Every rescued dog has a story - but Pupis’ journey from a small fishing village in Thailand to a warm, loving home in England is a reminder of resilience, trust, and unconditional love.
From Pain to Hope
For the first 18 months of his life, Pupis lived chained up in a rural Thai village. Neglected and scarred, he endured hunger, loneliness, and painful wounds around his neck. Even after being discovered by rescuers, it took months of effort and legal proceedings before he was finally released from his abusive owner.
His recovery began in a local shelter, surrounded by 24 other rescued dogs. Life there wasn’t easy - Pupis didn’t know how to trust humans or play with other dogs. He often challenged the pack’s alpha male, still trapped in survival mode. But destiny had a different plan for him.
The Moment Everything Changed
When I first visited the shelter during my travels in Thailand, I hadn’t planned to adopt. But as I sat among the dogs, Pupis quietly approached, leaned against me, and made it clear - he had chosen me. It was a moment of connection beyond words, one that marked the beginning of our shared journey.

The Long Way Home
Bringing Pupis home wasn’t simple. It took four months of paperwork, vaccinations, and medical care before he could travel. His journey spanned five hours from the island to Bangkok, a night with flight volunteers, and a twelve-hour flight to Frankfurt before we finally reunited in Europe.
At first, Pupis was wary and defensive, baring his teeth and refusing contact. But once he arrived home in England, something shifted. He stepped out of his crate, wagged his tail, and walked confidently into his new life - as if he knew he was finally home.
Healing with Love and Care
Pupis arrived with infections, digestive issues, and skin wounds, requiring months of antibiotics and careful treatment. Slowly, with balanced nutrition, supplements, and regular visits to the grooming spa, his body - and spirit - began to heal. His coat grew shiny, his eyes brightened, and his personality started to blossom.
Today, Pupis has his own sofa, favourite toys, and a wardrobe fit for a star. He’s learned to trust again, made friends - both two- and four-legged - and enjoys life’s simple pleasures. Though traces of trauma remain, Pupis now approaches the world with calm curiosity and quiet confidence.
Daily Joys and Little Rituals
Pupis’ days are filled with love and routine: morning yoga sessions beside his human, enthusiastic squirrel chases in the garden, and peaceful naps in his favourite spot. These simple moments are his celebration of life - proof that love and patience can transform even the deepest wounds.
A Lesson from Pupis
Whenever life feels heavy, Pupis’ story is a reminder that everything is possible. From pain to peace, from fear to freedom, every new day brings an opportunity to heal and begin again.
Pupis teaches us that happiness isn’t about perfection — it’s about gratitude, connection, and the courage to trust again. His journey is living proof that with compassion and care, any soul can find its way home.
